Drugs that treat type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a
complex disease involving
not just the pancreas but
other organs in the body as
well. There are a number of
medications to treat this
form of diabetes. Your
doctor can help you find
which one is right for you.

characterized by insulin
resistance which is the
body's inability to use
insulin effectively, and a
relative insulin deficiency.
Individuals with Type 2
diabetes have varying
degrees of insulin
resistance and insulin
deficiency. The challenge
is to match the individual
with the correct medicine.
Possible Adverse
Effects
Hypoglycemia, or low blood glucose reactions, can occur with insulin
secretagogues. It is very important that you not skip meals if taking
one of these medicines. The other classes of oral diabetes medication
do not cause hypoglycemia by themselves. If they are used in
combination with insulin secretagogues, the chance of hypoglycemia
can increase.
