This manual contains information for the configuring work that you must perform when you want to work with a Siemens PLC (SIMATIC). Target groups Configuring engineers The audience of this manual are configuring engineers. The manual leads you systematically through all configuration steps that you must perform when you use objects of this class in your project. Operators The manual is useful for plant operators when they require more information about the method of operation for the automation class described in this manual. In particular, we recommend chapter 2.1, "Basic concept". Content The content of this manual as an overview: Chapter Description 2 Fundamentals Explains the method of operation of the C74 IVT class. 3 Object parameterization Provides the most important notes for the parameterization of a C74 IVT object in the Configuration Client. 4 Visualization Shows how you can configure in Visual Basic the representation for the process picture. 5 PLC user interface Principles for the programming: Documents the interface signals of the C74 IVT class. More advanced manuals Further information for Plant iT and the Siemens PLC is contained in the following manuals: • Principles for installing and customizing the PLC: Plant iT ║ Installation ║ PLC – Installation and Programming • Plant Direct iT V8.20, R16 Configuration in the Configuration Client: Configuration | Class C74 IVT, Interval Generator 4 Introduction Basic concept Plant Direct iT ║ Configuration ║ Automation Classes • Operation of the C74 IVT class: Plant Direct iT ║ Operation ║ Automation Classes Plant Direct iT V8.20, R16 Configuration | Class C74 IVT, Interval Generator 5 Fundamentals Basic concept 2 Fundamentals This chapter provides an overview for the method of operation of the C74 IVT class. 2.1 Basic concept The C74 IVT forms up to 32 pulse signals, where the time for each individual pulse can be parameterized. Depending on the settings, the interval sequence is performed once or n-times. The interval sequence can be controlled by a control signal from the user program to also run continuously. A parameterized overlapping time can be used to set overlapping pulse signals (overlapping time > 0). A negative overlapping time produces a pause between the pulse signals. The configuring of an external address (DB/DW) for the setpoints / actual values allows the pulse times, for example, to be specified recipe dependent. Objects of the C74 IVT class can be used, for example, to form clock cycles for valve seat rinsing for cleaning programs, container spraying or similar. 2.2 System response 2.2.1 Operating modes You can control C74 IVT objects in the automatic and manual operating modes. Automatic In the Automatic operating mode, objects are controlled by PLC control signals. Manual In the manual operating mode, the operator can control the objects using process picture operation. Switch from Automatic to Manual During the switch from Automatic to Manual, all states last present in the Automatic operating mode are initially retained. Plant Direct iT V8.20, R16 Configuration | Class C74 IVT, Interval Generator 6 Fundamentals Application example Switch from Manual to Automatic When an operator switches the operating mode back to Automatic, the values set in Manual are not transferred. The output signal accepts the status of the automatic. 2.2.2 System messages No system messages are parameterized for class C74 IVT objects. 2.3 Application example Task The cleaning of valves in the pipe requires that these are opened for several seconds. Diagram Figure 1 To prevent pressure loss in the pipe during the cleaning, the valves must be opened alternately. Implementation The implementation requires the following objects: • • C74 IVT class: C25 DCM class: one object three objects Three intervals each of three seconds must be parameterized for the interval generator. The interval generator is released with the flag interface in the user program. The flags of the interval register can now implement the activations for the three actuators. Plant Direct iT V8.20, R16 Configuration | Class C74 IVT, Interval Generator 7 Object parameterization Parameters C74 IVT 3 Object parameterization This chapter contains all important information for the parameterization of a C74 IVT object.
