Although the UN peacekeeping operations are aimed to do a noble work, protect civilians and provide peace and security, now we can see that the outcome doesn’t correlate with the invested efforts. Currently 14 peacekeeping operations are working all over the world to navigate the countries’ difficult way from conflict to peace. But why it’s not working properly? Behind every political crisis stand the whole combination of different causes. But nowadays, the UN missions instead of trying to reach the agreement between conflicting parties, focus on contributing to humanitarian actions, which of course is important but doesn’t help solving the problem. We want to propose changing the focus of the UN peacekeeping operations from humanitarian help to restoring the political process.
