Разработка урока в 8-м классе "Famous people" Урок подготовила Христич Татьяна Анатольевна, учитель английского языка МОУСОШ №7 г. Камышина Волгоградской области. Цель урока: обобщить лексический материал, изученный в данном цикле, дополнительный материал, используемый на уроках; продемонстрировать владение учебным материалом, умение учащихся использовать его в новых ситуациях; практиковать в чтении и понимании страноведческих текстов; повысить интерес к изучению английского языка. Оборудование урока: плакат с темой урока, фотографии, тексты для “Jigsawreading”. План урока 1. warming up (речевая зарядка); 2. lead in (введение в сюжет урока, определение задач); 3. jigsaw-reading (проверка понимания прочитанного); 4. results and home task (окончание урока, подведение итогов работы). Ход урока 1. Warming up (речевая зарядка) Teacher: Good morning, friends! I’m glad to see you! Has something good occurred? (Ответы ребят). T: Let’s warm up a little. What do you think of when you hear these word combinations? To be famous for, pen name, autobiography, tall tale, to gain, real name, works, lifetime. (Учащиеся отвечают после прослушивания каждого словосочетания.) 2. Lead in (введение в сюжет урока, определение задач) T: Do you realize the theme and the aim of our lesson? What are they? (Учащихся отвечают) T: Yes, we’ll speak about famous people, practice in reading and listening. (На доске открывается плакат с темой урока) 3. Jigsaw-reading (проверка понимания прочитанного) - Pre-reading task T: You are going to read about two famous American writers. Look at the photos. (см. Приложение) T: Do you know these people. Who are they? (учащиеся высказывают предположения) T: These men are Mark Twain and Jack London. T: What M. Twain’s works do you know? (учащиеся называют известные произведения этого автора) T: What J. London’s works do you know? (учащиеся называют известные произведения этого автора) T: Have you read their books? Which of them? - Vocabulary T: Look at the blackboard. There some new word combinations. Read them. T: Group a – Read the text about Mark Twain ( см. Приложение) T: Group B – Read the text about Jack London. (см. Приложение) - Work individually T: Read the text and answer the questions below it in written form. Тексты у обеих групп разные, а вопросы одинаковые: When and where was he born? What was his real name? What kind of work did he try? Did he have children? What is his best work? - Work in groups. T:Now find a partner from the other group, compare and complete your answers. 3. Take part in a discussion: What did you learn from the texts? (3 minutes) Discuss your answers and put marks. - Speaking. T:What do Mark Twain and Jack London have in common? Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910), well known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist. Twain is noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), which has been called "the Great American Novel", and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri, on November 30, 1835. Twain was the sixth of seven children. When Twain was four, his family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, a port town on the Mississippi River. At that time, Missouri was a slave state, and young Twain became familiar with the institution of slavery. In March 1847, when Twain was 11, his father died of pneumonia. In 1851, he began working as a typesetter and contributor of articles and humorous sketches for the Hannibal Journal, a newspaper owned by his brother Orion. When he was 18, he left Hannibal and worked as a printer in New York City. He educated himself in public libraries in the evenings. Twain moved to San Francisco, California in 1864, where he continued working as a journalist. His first great success as a writer came with his humorous tall tale, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County". Twain met Olivia in 1868 and married her in February 1870 .The couple's marriage lasted 34 years, until Olivia's death in 1904. He had three daughters. During his seventeen years in Hartford (1874–1891), Twain wrote many of his bestknown works: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876), The Prince and the Pauper (1881), Life on the Mississippi (1883), Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889). In 1906, Twain began his autobiography in the North American Review. Twain died of a heart attack on April 21, 1910, in Redding, Connecticut. Jack London. Jack London is the pseudonym of John Griffith Chaney. John was born Jan. 12, 1876 in San Francisco (California, USA) and died Nov. 22, 1916 in Glen Ellen (California). His father was a roving astrologer, who deserted when the Jack was a little boy. London was raised by his religious mother and his stepfather. Jack took his stepfather’s surname, London. Jack London left school at 14 and worked several different jobs. Eventually he returned to high school and graduated. At age of 19 Jack London was admitted to the University of California, Berkley, but he stayed there for only 6 months. Jack London worked many different jobs during his lifetime including seaman, factory worker, railroad hobo, and even gold prospector in Klondike. In 1900 Jack London married Bess Maddern and he had two daughters with her. They separated in 1903. After the separation from his first wife, Jack London married his secretary Charmain Kittredge. His stories of his Alaskan adventures were often crude. London published his first book “The Son of the Wolf” in 1900, and he gained a wide audience. In the next 17 years of his life he completed 50 books, mostly fiction. London became the highest-paid writer in the United States. Jack London wrote stories of very high quality. His best works are Alaskan stories “Call of the Wild” (1903), “White Fang” (1906), “Burning Daylight” (1910). He wrote he wrote two more autobiographical novels: “The Road” (1907) and “John Barleycorn” (1913). London is one of the most extensively translated of American authors. Jack London is one of the most popular American writers in the world. His vivid, brutal and exiting style is the key to the popularity. Jack London Died at age of forty on November 22, 1916.
