My name is Ann & I'd like to tell you a few words about my opinion about the lesson. Of course, there were many good sides, so I'll try to explain to you what I've taken out of it. First of all I've learnt many new things about the theme (frankly speaking I couldn't know it before) The second advantage is that I've remembered & repeated lots of English words, learnt new idioms which, I know, play a great role in speaking English. As for me I liked all the tasks, but the second one was more difficult for me, because I hadn't an opportunity to listen to the speech of original English. But I am satisfied of my whole work at the lesson. And now I'd like to wish myself good luck in learning English, and I thank my teacher for such interesting class and for patience in working. Truly yours, Ann. The lesson is over. а для более подготовленных учащихся минисочинения, эссе, сказки, письма и т.д. на английском языке. 5-7 минут Приложение 1 Текст "Colour idioms in English". Many everyday expressions in English are made from colours. We say we are "in the pink" when we are in a good health. It is easy to understand how this expression was born. When my face has a nice fresh, pink colour, it is a sign my health is good. If I pale and grey, I may need a doctor. Red is a hotter colour than pink, and Americans use it to express heat. In English, the small hot peppers found in many Mexican foods are called "red hots", for their colour and their fiery taste. We say that fast, fiery music is "red hot", especially the kind called "Dixieland jazz". Blue is a cooler colour. The traditional blues music of American blacks is the opposite of red hot music. It is slow, sad and soulful. Duke Ellington and his orchestra recorded the famous song, Mood Indigo, about the deep blue colour, indigo. In the words of the song, "You ain't been blue till you've had that Moon Indigo". To be "blue", of course, is to be sad. While the colour green is natural for trees, it is unnatural colour for humans. When someone does not feel well, someone who is seasick, for example, we say he looks green. When someone is angry because he doesn't have what someone else has, we say he is "green with envy", because someone else has more dollars or "greenbacks". Dollars are called greenbacks because that's the colour of the back side of the money. The colour black is often used in expressions. People describe a day which everything goes wrong as a "black day". A "blacklist" is illegal now, but at one time, some employers shared blacklists of people who shouldn't be given work. American women use the French word for red as the name of the coloured cosmetic which they sometimes use to brighten their cheeks, it's just called "rouge". They use it especially when they are going out for the evening, or as Americans say "to paint the town red". A person's skin may become yellow as a result of diseases that attack liver. Yellow fever is one. In the past, ships carrying yellow fever victims raised a flag called the "yellow jack". In the United States, an activist organization of older people calls itself the "grey panthers". The name comes from the grey hair of its members and from the panther, a fierce animal of the cat family. Приложение 2 Текст "A Family of Musicians" Carol Parker was a very special kind of girl who was a member of a very special family. Everyone in Carol's family was a fine musician, and they were all the most musical family in the neighbourhood. They lived in a deserted village high in the mountains with a few other families. All the inhabitants of the village admired the musical family. Each of them played a different instrument and practised their music in different corners of the house. Carol played the violin in the bedroom. She was a good player. She knew what to do to make the right note come out at the right time. Carol had a pet, a cat Pussy by name. They took walks together and climbed trees in the woods together but when Carol played Pussy slept on the bed. Carol and Pussy tried to share as many things as they could. In fact, Pussy was never out of Carol's sight. Carol's brother Sam had the best place to practise. He was fortunate to play in the living room, he was the family piano player and the piano stood in the living room. Sam was always playing one thing or another. Sometimes he played from printed music, sometimes he played things that he made up himself. He was a handy boy and could repair almost any musical instrument. In the evenings and on weekends Carol's father practised playing the bagpipes downstairs in the hall. The mother was a singer. She had a lovely light voice. Mrs. Parker fortunately could practuse all through the day. She sang one song when she was watering the plants, and another song while she was cooking dinner. Carol liked her cooking and so did Pussy. After dinner the Parkers gathered around the piano with their chairs and their music stands. It was the time of day that no one wanted to miss. The Parker family played together. The noble sounds of beautiful tunes filled the room and spread all over the village and that gave their neighbours a chance to enjoy their concerts too.
