Methanol extracts of the marine coral Lobophytum pauciflorum showed in vitro amoebicidal activity against
trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica and effected 85% cures of caecal amoebiasis in rats. The activity was localized in
the n-butanol fraction, from which three pure compounds were isolated. (Biologiya Morya, Vladivostok, 2004, vol. 30,
