Essay 1 (3rd semester)
«A special dish, eaten in your family on a special day»
What is a special dish and what is a special day in our family? I am sure that a special day for
any family is the holidays according to the calendar, but it is the special days that are the birthdays
of family members. Of course, I love my birthday, because special festive dishes, snacks, desserts
are being prepared. Festive dishes are dishes that require a certain amount of time and money to
purchase and cook products, often expensive. The beauty of festive dishes is that you don't want
them, and there's no need to eat them every day. The menu of the festive table is thought out long
before the celebration. A favorite, special dish will be the main treat for the whole family. In our
family, a special festive dish is Uzbek manti.
Why manta rays? Because my mother is from Uzbekistan. She knows and loves Asian cuisine.
And we are always pleased to taste the creation of her hands. How we eat in our family home is
what makes up family traditions, whether we like it or not, notice it or not. Mantas are a special
dish, and they eat it in an unusual way – with their hands, with their hands, then they seem even
tastier. Everyone looks at each other and smiles, because this is exactly "our" family secret. If there
are guests in the house, then, of course, cutlery. Only my loved ones gather for my birthday, so we
"bully"…
We like the option with minced meat, potatoes and lots and lots of onions for juiciness the
most. Manti is a traditional dish of Asian and Oriental peoples. Meat "pie" made of unleavened
dough, steamed. It is prepared with various types of meat, but most often from mutton. At the
moment, China is considered the birthplace of manta rays, but it is not known for sure. Each of the
peoples is inclined to believe that this is their dish. The "great-grandfather" of today's mantas is
bread that was steamed. He was called "mantjou". After that, they began to be stuffed, and then each
nation had its own fillings.
Uzbek mantas are made from thinly rolled dough and meat filling. Minced lamb, onions and fat
are most often used in the meat filling. We replace the fat with butter and add potatoes, cut into
small cubes. We flavor the minced meat with cumin, cumin, black and red pepper. Salt is brought to
a harmonious taste.
In conclusion, I would like to say that a simple, at first glance, dish of dough with meat can be
the main, special dish on a family holiday. And special days – holidays – unite all family members.
