Many countries consider education a major vehicle of social advancement.
Многие страны считают образование основным средством социального
прогресса.
Training of highly qualified specialists, capable of solving the most complex
problems of modern society is the main priority of higher education.
Подготовка высококвалифицированных специалистов, способных решать
самые сложные проблемы современного общества, является главным
приоритетом высшего образования.
The efforts of our scientists have always been focused on the fundamental problems
of humanities, natural and social sciences.
Усилия наших ученых всегда были сосредоточены на фундаментальных
проблемах гуманитарных, естественных и социальных наук.
At the end of the century the system of higher and further education in Belarus
underwent a process of great reforms.
В конце века система высшего и дополнительного образования в Беларуси
претерпела процесс масштабных реформ.
They were initiated to provide closer links between education and technological
needs of industry.
Они были инициированы для обеспечения более тесной связи между
образованием и технологическими потребностями промышленности.
The major significance of the reforms was to move toward the democratization of
university administration and the «humanitarization» of the educational process in
terms of students individual aptitudes and needs.

A distinguishing feature of our universities is that they are becoming internationally
oriented.

We have joined the European Cultural Convention which enables us to participate
in all projects concerning higher and further education, academic mobility and
recognition of qualification.

The universities also expand their cooperation with such authoritative international
organizations as UNESCO and the Council of Europe.

The need to make education more democratic and universal arises from the fact that
our country is integrating into the European community.
Необходимость сделать образование более демократичным и универсальным
проистекает из того факта, что наша страна интегрируется в европейское
сообщество.
Issues such as environment, exchanges rate and economic competition, public
health, national security, poverty, population control and human rights affect every
country domestically as well as internationally.
Такие вопросы, как окружающая среда, обменный курс и экономическая
конкуренция, общественное здравоохранение, национальная безопасность,
бедность, контроль над народонаселением и права человека, затрагивают
каждую страну как внутри страны, так и на международном уровне.
The characteristic feature and the main trend in modern higher and further education
is not only to check students' knowledge but develop their abilities and creative
thinking.
Характерной особенностью и главной тенденцией современного высшего и
дополнительного образования является не только проверка знаний
студентов, но и развитие их способностей и творческого мышления.
Today's scientific and technological progress demands of the university graduates to
be prepared to deepen their knowledge individually and adapt themselves quickly to
the changes in science or industry.
Современный научно-технический прогресс требует от выпускников
университетов быть готовыми к индивидуальному углублению своих знаний и
быстрой адаптации к изменениям в науке или промышленности.
Much has already been done and is being done to transform the national system of
education.
Многое уже было сделано и делается для преобразования национальной
системы образования.
A wide range of non-state schools, colleges and institutes have been introduced.
Был введен широкий спектр негосударственных школ, колледжей и
институтов.
Of course, university education in Belarus still faces a great variety of problems,
connected with introduction of new disciplines, retraining of the faculty, reorienting
university policies and programs towards new goals.
Конечно, университетское образование в Беларуси по-прежнему
сталкивается с большим разнообразием проблем, связанных с внедрением
новых дисциплин, переподготовкой профессорско-преподавательского
состава, переориентацией университетской политики и программ на новые
цели.
But if we want to prosper in the new environment of the 21st century, our universities
must truly orient themselves around new goals.
Но если мы хотим процветать в новых условиях 21 века, наши университеты
должны по-настоящему ориентироваться на новые цели.
1. Education in the modern world is a very important aspect of life. Today it is
very difficult to get a job without education. Higher education is required in
any managerial position. The modern world requires a person to understand a
lot of issues and have a comprehensive erudition. All this knowledge is
provided by the education system. I think education is very important in the
modern world.
2. The reforms of education in Belarus are aimed at improving it, as well as at
compliance of the Belarusian education system with European standards. An
example of such reforms is the creation of a system of non-state educational
institutions in the Republic of Belarus, as well as Belarus' accession to the
Lisbon Convention. The result of the reform of the education system in
Belarus can be considered the adoption of the Education Code in 2011. This
Code has become the basis for the further development of education in the
Republic of Belarus. The vector of development of the education system in
Belarus is set by the Bologna process, as well as the Sorbonne Declaration.
3. The main trend in the development of education in Belarus is its improvement
in order to meet the European level, as well as to train highly qualified
specialists in all fields of knowledge.
