1) Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to entertain people,
while others believe that the purpose of museums is to educate.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Body 1
Topic (main idea) - museums should be enjoyable places
Explanation - motivation Example - to have a rest
Body 2
Topic (main idea) - museums should be educational
Explanation - education
Example - experience
Intro: People have different thoughts about the role and function of museums. I
personally believe that museums can and should be both entertaining and
educational.
Body1: On the one hand, it can be argued that the main role of a hall is to entertain.
The gallery is known as a tourist attraction where exhibits a collection of
interesting objects that people want to see. Almost people go to the gallery in their
space time when no longer having pressure of work or studying. It leads to the fact
that they seem to avoid intake too much education and academic content. It is
understandable that museums often emphasis on enjoyment rather than learning.
By having interactive activities or games which is quite visually spectacular.
Body2: On the other hand, educational function could be seen in the role of
museums where shows documentary or objects related to history and culture.
Through visiting, tourists tend to discover something new about the history behind
the gallery 's exhibits. That is the reason why professional guides are employed and
heat sets are offered to support visitors to easily access to detailed knowledge
about history, culture, science and other aspects of life.
In conclusion, it seems to me that a good hall should be able to offer an interesting,
enjoyable, and educational experience so that people can have fun and learn
something at the same time.
2) These days more fathers stay at home and take care of their children while
mothers go out to work.
What could be the reasons for this? Do you think it is a positive or negative
development?
Body 1
Main idea -staying at home
Explanation - boring
Example - caring of each other
Body 2
Main idea - feminism
Explanation - equality of genders
Example - help each other
Intro: It is fact that both males and females take responsibility equally for their
babies. Recently, it becomes more usually to see fathers looking after children.
This state can emerge for several reasons.
Firstly, it can be reluctance that rises because of staying at home for a long time .
To be more clear, sometimes pregnant wife take maternity leave during pregnancy,
they can also sustain it for two or three years. However, some of them are willing
to go on their career after birth. Moreover, during this period, they need more
moral support, especially from their husbands. For example, if a woman is getting
to have a baby, she will be more emotional and needy, therefore, her mate has to
stand by her and to show his love by taking care in these times.
Secondly, since the last century women have been aware of their rights thanks to
feminist movement. This ideology supports that, both genders should be equal in
every aspect such as social, political, economical. Feminism Changes the
population's mind to a more contemporary way. Already, people accept the
equality between male and female as normal and significant. That is why, partners
take charge of babycare together. For instance, if the mother has worked, the man
can take a paternity leave to help his wife.
In conclusion, the moral needs of women and change of peoples' mind
because of feminism are motives of some modern behaviours such as a man
looking after a child while a woman is at work. However, this improvement can
have a detrimental effect on the community in the long term.
3) Some people believe that hobbies need to be difficult to be enjoyable.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Body 1
Main idea - easy to relax
Explanation - life satisfaction
Example – sports
Body 2
Main idea - challenging hobbies can be fun too
Explanation - trying many types of hobbies
Example - passion
Intro: Nowadays, people tend to spend their spare time in different ways,
preferring various types of hobbies. It is believed that hobbies should be
complicated in order to enjoy them. I partly agree with this statement.
On the one hand, enthusiasts have lots of engagements starting with sports like
football, tennis and ending with art such as drawing, scrapbooking. It should be
noted that every hobby is difficult in its own way and not everyone is able to carry
out any task related to one hobby. For instance, in order to play football, you need
to be aware of its rules, time codes and marking system. In addition, hobbies like
knitting and swimming require lots of patience and knowledge, even if it gives
pleasure.
On the other hand, a hobby is the thing that an individual is good at. This person
tried lots of things and came with one indulgence that turned out his or her hobby.
For example, many actors tried themselves in different professions like a manager,
a waiter, and only after that they found out that acting is their passion.
Furthermore, the hobby was called that way because it does not require such skills
and experience, which means it is related to only enjoyable and relaxation.
In conclusion, individuals choose a hobby that is easy to do considering their
own interests and lifestyle. Despite the fact that they have different hobbies,
they are not required to be sophisticated to be enjoyable.
4) There seems to be an increasing trend towards assessing students through exams
rather than through continual assessment.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of exams as a form of assessment?
Body 1
Main idea – twsts in students life
Explanation – learning opportunities
Example – students skills
Body 2
Main idea – stress in tests
Explanation - end one's life
Example - complex topics
Intro: Education plays a pivotal role in the development of children. Nowadays
it has become a debatable topic, whether to evaluate youngsters knowledge
on the basis of periodic exams or on the basis of regular assessment. This
essay intends to discuss both the pros and cons of this trend in subsequent
paragraphs. On the one hand, there are many benefits associated with the
trend of judging the capabilities of school goers by taking exams once a year.
Firstly, this system gives an opportunity to pupils to get enough time to
understand and learn the subject thoroughly. Due to this, they can perform
excellently in exams and will also get admission to leading universities like
INHA. A recent survey conducted by Oxford University reported that children
lost their interest in the study by giving regular tests which adversely affect on
learning capabilities of youngsters. Apart from this, it is not an only
standardized way to assess skills of students but also enable the student to
know their actual place at a national level. This creating positive competition.
On the other hand, there are multiple factors that make conventional exams
an outdated choice. In the first, place these tests are prone to increase stress
levels in many individuals and affect the annual performance in exams that
create a determinantal impact on the mental growth of youngsters. For
instance, it has been observed that the suicide rate among youngsters
increases during final exams owing to the fear of failure. Moreover, some
school-goers are very good at cramming the topics instead of learning the
basic concepts. This leads to an incomplete understanding of the topic which
creating a hindrance for the overall knowledge of students.
To conclude, although evaluating children through final exams is a good way
of assessing, yet it's negative aspects in terms of losing precious lives and
encouraging the rote methods. Hence this system should be made redundant.
5) In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems
will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be
taken to reduce the impact of aging populations.
Body 1
Main idea - senior citizen’s finance
Explanation - pensions
Example – technology is not for old
Body 2
Main idea - pensionable age
Explanation - c
Example – youngsters should help to senior citizens
Intro: Nowadays, we are living in a world where the improvement of people's
health is a heated topic and often discussed. It is true that in a developed
society, populations are becoming older and older. While this trend could
trigger some negative consequences, a number of viable solutions could be
adopted to tackle them.
As people live longer, several related problems can be anticipated. One of
them could be that governments will suffer from financial burden on social
welfare. As the number of senior citizens grows, authorities have to take
responsibility for pension funds, medical care, old folks' home
(accommodation) and so on. In addition, retirement pensions will affect on
economic development because instead of covering all of those expenses for
the elderly, governments could use this budget to invest in industry, economy,
education, medical research. Another drawback is being technologically
lagged behind. Because older people are not capable of catching the latest
trend and it is clear that the elderly will not develop technology as well as
youngsters with innovative mindsets and flexible activities.
Give the aforementioned setbacks, it is highly recommended that
governments adopt several remedies to rectify them. One of the effective
solutions could be to expand pensionable age. This move would be favourable
because many countries are having the standard pension age at 55 years old,
they should extend the age into 60 or 65 when senior citizens still have good
health. Hence, it would reduce a wide range of budget to pay for this and
avoid waste of labour force. A second measure would be that the authorities
should promulgate policies to support the young generation in taking care of
their old relatives. Therefore, youngsters absolutely have more spare time to
focus on work, which could lead to the development of many areas.
In conclusion, it should be noted that human life expectancy can cause a
number of potential problems, and the proposed methods can be used to
mitigate them.
