The purposes of this research were to study 1) the level of Scientist Personality of
Science Center for Education officers 2) the level of Self-Directed Learning Readiness of Science
Center for Education officers 3) to compare the Self-Directed Learning Readiness level of Science
Center for Education officers classified by different variables: gender, age, major, educational level,
career status, sequence of learning channel selection and scientist personality. The samples were
divided into 2 groups: 1) 186 officers selected by proportional stratified random sampling to
answering the questionnaires 2) 15 officers selected by purposive random sampling to be
interviewed. The research instruments were questionnaires and interviewing form. The statistics

The results of the research were as follows:
1. The Scientist Personality level of Science Center for Education officers was at a high
level. (
= 3.86, S.D. = 0.56)
2. The Self-Directed Learning Readiness level of Science Center for Education officers
was at a high level. (
= 3.80, S.D. = 0.43)
3. A comparative study of the Self-Directed Learning Readiness level of the Science
Center for Education officers classified by major, educational level, sequence of Internet learning
channel selection and scientist personality were statistical significant different at 0.05 level but
gender, age, career status and other sequence of learning channel selection were not statistical
significant different at 0.05 level.
4. The guide line for self-directed learning development should be training, field trip and
developing learning resource centers.
