Head of the internship
Trainee performs the duties of an assistant general surgeon for 2 weeks,
working day - 6 hours. Reducing the duration of the practice is not allowed.
The programme and reporting documents are handed over to the trainee. All
work of the student must be recorded in the diary, which you have to sign
every day. At the end of the internship you should issue a brief description
of the student's work, sign his/her personal diary, report, report card and put
your stamp. After all the cycles, the student is given a final characteristic
with the stamp of the medical institution.
The student gets safety briefing, which is recorded in the register of practice
manager and responsible from Medical and Preventive Institutions.

Clinical Internship in SURGERY
The practical training in surgery lasts 10 working days. On the basis of the
clinical hospitals (in the surgical departments).
Requirements for students:
- To be in the workplace from 9.00 to 15.00;
- Attend morning doctor's conferences;
- Conduct daily rounds under the supervision of ward physician and
complete histories;
- Describe the admissions to the supervised wards;
- Assist in routine and emergency operations;
All work carried out is registered by the student in detail in the internship
diary and signed by the head of the department. At the end of the internship,
each student receives a final evaluation from their supervisors. The listed
requirements concern all students of KBGU, irrespective of place of
practice.
To pass the internship in surgery, a score of 61 points is required:
- Reception of patients in the emergency department - 15 points
- diary formatting - 15 points
- Attendance - 5 points
- Skills - 10 points
- Attendance - 25 points
The list of practical skills in CPR should be mastered by the student
I. Skills which the student should know about:
1. Examination of rectum in a proctologic patient

Knowledge of indications and contraindications for endoscopic
examination in patients with diseases of esophagus, stomach, 12 p.c., colon
and rectum.

Techniques for performing pleural puncture and pleural drainage
according to Bülow.

First aid for chemical burns of the oesophagus.

Georgievsky-Mussy in cholelithiasis.
