What is the difference between serial and series Use "SERIAL" when you want to describe a long television story that has been divided into several episodes. With "series" it's a little easier — use it when it comes to a TV series / animated series with a permanent set of characters. Оба слова переводятся, как - сериал. В русском мы используем только «сериал» из-за отсутствия эквивалентного перевода для каждого из этих слов. Нэйтивы продвинулись немного дальше — они расширили вокабуляр и применяют два разных термина для схожих, но при этом разных понятий. Используй «SERIAL», когда хочешь описать длинную телевизионную историю, которую разбили на несколько эпизодов. «Санта-Барбара» или «Игра престолов» — это «serials», не иначе! С «series» чуть проще — используй, когда речь идёт о сериале/мультсериале с бессменным набором персонажей. «Симпсоны», «Друзья» или же шедевр отечественного производства «Глухарь»? Всё в одну калитку — это «series».
