HERPES
РАЗДЕЛИТЕЛЬ РАЗДЕЛОВ
Herpes is caused by a virus and occurs as blisters. One type of the virus is
often found on the lips. The other occurs primarily on the genital organs.
The disease is very common and about 75% of all those infected by herpes
are totally symptom-free
1
HOW IS HERPES TRANSMITTED?
Close contact such as
kissing and intercourse are
the commonest infection
routes.
2
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF HERPES?
ꙮA small, itchy patch.
ꙮSmall fluid-filled blisters.
ꙮFever.
ꙮTenderness in the lymph
nodes.
ꙮThe sores.
3
HOW ARE SAMPLES TAKEN?
Samples are taken direct from
the blister and investigated in a
laboratory.
4
HOW IS HERPES TREATED?
At present, there is no way of
curing herpes.
A person affected by frequent,
serious relapses can prevent
these by daily medication.
5
HOW SHOULD ONE BEHAVE
TOWARDS ONE’S PARTNER?
A condom should therefore be
used if one has intercourse during
the healing period.
6
WHAT SECONDARY DISEASES CAN
HERPES CAUSE?
During childbirth, a pregnant
woman with genital herpes
can transmit a life-threatening
infection to the newborn
baby.
7
REMEMBER!
If you get pregnant and usually have relapses of herpes, you
should tell your midwife or doctor.
