Samples are taken direct from the blister and investigated in a laboratory. 4 HOW IS HERPES TREATED? At present, there is no way of curing herpes. A person affected by frequent, serious relapses can prevent these by daily medication. 5 HOW SHOULD ONE BEHAVE TOWARDS ONE’S PARTNER? A condom should therefore be used if one has intercourse during the healing period. 6 WHAT SECONDARY DISEASES CAN HERPES CAUSE? During childbirth, a pregnant woman with genital herpes can transmit a life-threatening infection to the newborn baby. 7 REMEMBER!
