It’s all in your mind
2 Cor. 10:3-6
Every Christian is at war (2 Tim. 2:3, 4; Eph. 6:10-12).
Peace of mind and heart.

I. ENEMY’S POSITION
WHAT ARE STRONGHOLDS? Paul did a good job explaining it to us.
1. imaginations cf. Gen. 6:5
2. of the flesh (Rom. 8:5-8).
3. “high things that exalt itself…” (2 Cor. 10:5)
4. Against the knowledge of God (2 Cor. 10:5)
“strongholds” Mk. 3:27; Lk. 11:21-23
1. The flesh - the carnal mind, or the flesh (v. 3). The carnal mind is at enmity with
God, or with the things of the Spirit.
2. The world - Imaginations (v.5, of this world). They are but vain unless lead by
the Spirit.
3. The devil - every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of god.
Job 41:33, 34 (Syn. 41:25, 26)

• The devil’s chief target is the mind, because the most effective way to influence
behaviour is to influence thinking.
• He did that to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden - doubting God’s truth; to Jesus in
the temptation in the wilderness, twisting God’s truth.
Our minds are the control centers of our entire beings.
• The enemy knows that there is nothing bigger or more powerful than God.
• That’s why everything that “exalts itself” in our though life is called a “pretension” –
the other versions says speculation, imagination.
• Satan plays make-believe. He can only pretend – deceive us with half-truths and lies.
ILL. Distractions - Self-justification messes up the mind.

II. THE BELIEVERS POSITION These weapons are not “carnal” (fleshly)

1. We walked according to the flesh” (v.2)
2. We walk in the flesh (v. 3) because we are in physical bodies.
3. We do not war after the flesh (v. 3). We’re to war spiritually.
- Practically, every Christian is “in the flesh” (Rom. 8:9)
- Spiritually, no Christian is “in the flesh.” Но вы не в плоти,
Depending on how the Christian reckons the old man of the flesh (Rom. 6:11)
Depending on which he yields to (Rom. 6:13),

Affections – what you love and what you fear. The emotional thing.
ILL. The fleshly mind cannot reveal man’s natural condition.
The proof that man is degenerate is the fact that he can’t see his own
degeneration.
The Holy Spirit has to do that.
Religious groups with abject poverty and pornography.
Certain places where at one time there was revival is now degenerated.

“It’s all in your mind” Thinking that things are getting better. But degeneration.

Worse God can do is when God leaves you to your own nature.

III. 7 WEAPONS OF WARFARE –
1. It’s the word of God. “are not carnal, fleshly (Rom. 7:18).

Mind of Christ Но мы имеем ум Христа (1 Cor. 2:16).
- The mind (ум) is a function (функция) of the brain.
- You’re to look at things God looks at things.

Concentration with distractions.
Train the mind.
7. Obedience – “And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your
obedience is fulfilled.”
1. To go after disobedience. Hate it. Knock it out.
i. “revenge” 2 Cor. 7:11
a. Where you failed the first time, do it right the next time.
Obedience comes through sanctification of the Spirit (1 Pet. 1:2).
Commit your works to the Lord (Prov. 16:3)
