This paper provides lexical analysis of the Henri Michaux’s poem «Portrait des Meidosems» (1948).
The comparison of usage of the «visual» and «psychological» epithets in this poem and in Henri Michaux’s
cycle «Apparitions» reveals that psychological epithets in «Portrait des Meidosems» are more numerous,
more sophisticated and rare. Surprisingly, visual epithets are neutral, despite various references to the
visual sphere presented in the poem.
